Folder structure
Student Folder Structure Template
A student folder structure for courses, assignments, lecture notes, applications, finance, admin documents, and portfolio projects.
Start with this rule
Students should organize by academic year first, then course. Keep life admin, applications, and portfolio work outside the course tree so they do not disappear when a semester ends.

Transfer/Rules that keep it useful
- Academic work is year -> semester -> course.
- Applications and admin live outside courses.
- Final submissions get clearer names than drafts.
Why this works
- Courses stay tied to the semester where they happened.
- Important life documents do not get archived with old classes.
- Portfolio work can outlive the school calendar.
Common mistakes
- Using one Downloads folder for every assignment.
- Saving application documents inside a course folder.
- Creating separate note systems that never connect back to files.
